Step 1: Put your MP3 player or whatever on random.
Step 2: Post the first line from the first 25 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 4: Strike through when someone gets them right.
1. I can hear so much in your sighs.
2. When they poured across the border I was cautioned to surrender.
3. Johnny guitar, my restless lover.
4.
5. Living is a dream, when you make it seem...
6. If a man gets personal, wants you to have your fun
7. I want to walk you home
8.
9. My lover's gone.
10. In the beginning you really loved me.
11. So okay, last night, we were supposed to be here last night, and you're late!
12. The wall is high, the black barn, the babe in my arms in her swaddling clothes...

16. Return to me, oh my dear I'm so lonely.
17.
18. With my eyes wide open, I'm dreaming...
19.
20.

Yay Avenue Q and Fiddler! I'm impressed.
Nicole has already already gotten the musicals. 20, though is Devil or Angel by Bobby Vee, so I'm glad my youth spent with the oldies station has paid off.
Well done, well done! My particular version of "Devil or Angel" is actually by the Clovers, but close enough!
4. Venus in furs
I had to look up No. 12 just to make sure it wasn't from Menotti's The Medium, LOL.
I finally have you in my Reader feed, so all is right with my blogging world. ;-)
#8, "Yesterdays" sung by Ella Fitzgerald. BTW, I've continued the meme.
Do make sure to post the answers, I'm terribly curious about some of them. I also have continued the meme.
Ha, #12 totally could have been The Medium --I'm talking a little about it in my Bernstein chapter, and the recording is iTunes at the moment. I'll post the answers in a bit, I guess.
The recording of "Yesterdays" that came up is actually a version done by the Ink Spots. But close enough! You can tell this meme was originally created by someone who mostly listens to more recent pop music--if one's iTunes is filled with pop music from the 40s and 50s, it doesn't work so well.
#24 is Aretha's cover of "A Change Is Gonna Come," I think.
